Who cares if Leonardo DiCaprio wins an Oscar? It’s obvious the man has accomplished a lot in his lifetime, as a human being and as an actor. Humans do not need external validation for accomplishments. Imagine if everything we did in life was for some sort of award or prize. What about the experience in itself? What about the moments that become memories, the laughter, the tears, the new friends, the people who become strangers, the lessons we learn along the way, the instances when we have to remind ourselves of what is important to us; what drives us, the times when we feel alone, the times when we feel like we’re in good company, and the times when we feel love? What about trying to figure out this roller coaster we call life? Is it all about the prize at the end which may or may not come? Is it all about success or reaching some end goal? Is it all about validation of our experience as humans? I get the feeling that Leo probably knows it’s about more than that.
